REVIEW: Pizza Hut vs. Domino's

Pizza night comes along about once every two weeks - usually the night when we just want to lounge around and binge on missed episodes from our favorite TV shows or movies that we didn't get to watch. Our go to picks for delivery is Pizza Hut and Domino's.
But which pan pizza is our number 1 favorite?  Let's take a look at both options with our favorite toppings.

PIZZA HUT
size:  large pan pizza
ingredients:  extra pepperoni, sausage, ham, bacon, meatballs, extra mushrooms, green bell pepper, creamy garlic parmesan sauce
cost:  $10+tax
pros:  crisp, light, tasty crust
cons:  ingredients requested as extra appeared regular in amount

DOMINO'S
size:  medium pan pizza
ingredients:  triple pepperoni, crumbled sausage, sliced italian sausage, bacon, extra mushrooms, alfredo sauce
cost:  $12+tax
pros:  extra extra extra pepperoni, fresh crumbled bacon, quality ingredients
cons:  overwhelming sweet flavor (could not pinpoint which ingredient was causing it)

Overall Consensus:  My pros favored Domino's, while hubby's pros favored Pizza Hut. TIE!

REVIEW: Island Suhi & Grill (Henderson)

What to eat on a rainy winter evening in Vegas?  A nice big bowl of soup or some filling comfort food of course.  Since I didn't want to spend any more time out of the house after a full day of work, I opted to pick up comfort food take-out.  The first place that came to mind and which was right down the street from work was Island Sushi & Grill (Henderson).

Picked up a regular Kalbi plate that included 2 scoops of rice and a side of macaroni salad, priced at $9.50. The kalbi pieces were sectioned individually and consisted of a generous amount with a perfect sweet and savory flavor. This is one of our favorite kalbi plates and the quality is consistent, so we order it often.

Also ordered a regular Garlic Chicken plate, priced at $7.50. This was a first time try for us and the chicken was not as crispy as we expected with an interestingly sweet flavor, not much of a garlic taste as the name would have you believe. This was a good dish, but other plates would get picked before it next time.

Island Sushi & Grill recommendation score:  7.5/10

Surf & Turf Swiss Burger

So today we decided to put together something adventurous. We recently heard about a new burger that popped up at one of our favorite burger restaurants, but after calculating what we would've ended up spending on a satisfying meal for two there, we challenged ourselves to see if we can recreate it for a much more affordable fare at home.

First thing first, head to the market to pick up ingredients we needed and didn't have on hand:  burger buns, beef patties, bacon, swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato and of course the surf of the dish - LOBSTER.

Preparing and putting everything together was more simpler than we thought it would be minus all the hand-washing and pausing for taking pictures..pretty sure as we progress through this that one of us will slowly move towards the set task of taking and handling the video and pictures, while the other does the food preparation and cooking. Still lots of fun either way though - love significant other collaboration projects!

Ingredients used: 85/15 beef patties, lobster tails, bacon, cheddar cheese, swiss cheese, salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika, butter, lettuce, tomato, crustini buns, mayo, ketchup
prep: 20 min
cook: 20 min
serve: 2-3
